Getting started

How do I add a learner?

On the “Who's learning today?” screen, tap Add learner. Choose a nickname, an avatar, a grade band (1–3, 4–6, 7–8 or 9–12) and a starting level (Easy, Medium or Hard).

What does the Easy / Medium / Hard choice do?

It sets where your child starts. Quizzes show new questions closest to that level first, then move on to the other levels. In Challenge mode, questions get harder after two right answers in a row and easier after two wrong answers.

Can more than one child use the app?

Yes. Add a learner for each child. Every learner has their own grade, progress and mistakes to review.

How do I change a learner's grade?

Open the app as that learner and go to Settings to choose a different grade band. Their progress is kept.

Using the app

Does the app need the internet?

No. All questions are built into the app, so it works fully offline. The internet is only used if a grown-up opens an outside link.

What is “Review mistakes”?

Questions your child answered wrongly are saved so they can practise them again later, until they get them right.

Why does a puzzle appear when tapping some links?

That's the grown-up check. Any link that leaves the app (such as the App Store or our website) asks an adult to solve a quick puzzle first, so children can't wander off by accident.

How do new questions arrive?

New questions are added through app updates from the App Store. Your child's progress is kept when the app updates.

Account, data and payments

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts or sign-ups. Everything is stored on your device.

Is my child's progress backed up?

Progress is stored on the device only. If the app is deleted, its progress is deleted too. It is not synced between devices.

Is the app really free?

Yes. Every grade and every question is free, with no ads. There is an optional “Support us” tip for parents who'd like to help us make more content; it unlocks nothing and is never required.

How do I request a refund for a tip?

Tips are processed by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Found a mistake in a question?

We check our questions carefully, but if you spot an error, please email support@easystepjunior.com with the question text (a screenshot helps) and we'll fix it in the next update.
